Berlin Fashion Week SS16 // Rehab

Fashion week is over. And again people are discussing the death of Fashion Week in Berlin. Better late than never we will release our impressions and favorite happenings within various posts, interviews and series of photos. Starting with an overview of our week.

Team Slashmuse made it to 14 of the official shows, some parties and other side events during the last week. Still a little tired and exhausted. We quote not because of the alcohol – this time we decided on a tough working week. Lola was busy with a secret Fashion Week event that we are not going to mention but you can find out if you stalk her deeply on Instagram. Top Dog Milano flew into the fashion capital Berlin but has never been seen during his stay. We heard he got into the DC Fashion Show on Wednesday and never came out again.

But let us get started on Monday night before Fashion Week when we spontaneously decided to go to the Dandy Diary Party at Surprise Club. Dressed to impress we showed up during open bar hour. Two lines in front of the club. After performing for a outfit shoot in front of the strip club next door and one hour and two meter in the queue we left to where we came from.

Tuesday morning: Happy Fashion Week on our bikes (as already mentioned in January the best way to get from A to B during Fashion Week) we started of to SOPOPULAR. The first show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week tent at Pariser Platz. Welcomed by half naked PETA-activists (wearing nude underwear – here we complain: why not naked like nature?) and a van of police men in front of the Brandenburger Tor. Like every season the Lena Hoschek show makes little girl wishes come true. And than a very sad faux pas that not only happened to us. For the Ivanman Show we should have gone to the Stage which was situated at Auguststrasse this season – we missed it. For the Vektor show we were all on time. The designer duo convinced with a collection inspired by the nineties skate culture and ballet. The day ended in the desert with Marcel Ostertag at Admiralspalast.

On Wednesday we saw the shows of Anja Gockel, Sadak (who did top his January show and sent among others Shaun Ross on the catwalk), OneWolf whose designer dressed the modern butterfly catcher, Holy Ghost who transformed the Haubentaucher into a oriental fairytale and Esther Perbandts’ show was supported by german composer Sven Helbig. Ending up at the “Lousy One Up” – party at Urban Spree it was a pretty inspiring day.

Thursday came earlier than expected. At late noon Steinrohner presented its collection ‘relieve the reef’ at the me Collectors Room in Berlin Mitte. The fashion installation took us down to the depths of an under world with its sound, colors and structures. After a little lunch break and nap we hipstered over to the Bright and Seek trade show. Here everyone seemed to be chilled and relaxed; Drinking beer and hanging around at the Badeschiff. We would love to rest and join in but equipped with a hand full of sugar we cycle over to Pariser Platz not knowing that in between a one hour delay has been build up. The Impuls_03 Graduate Show starts late. Our very highlight is the collection of young designer Sema Gedik who deals with fashion for people of small stature. Not only a shake up for the audience but a  fulfillment of the needs of this minority when it comes to fashion.

10 o’clock Friday morning the alarm wakes us up and it is time to run. Marina Hoermanseder invited us to the Kronprinzenpalais. We feel so Paris when arriving and getting seated in the garden. It looks a little bit like rain but as the music starts the suns comes out. In the evening the London based designers of Fyodor Golan gave an audience at Pariser Platz and ended our Fashion Week with a big color bomb.

We did not feel like attending a funeral this Fashion Week. We saw designers who worked hard for their shows, many convinced us with their ideas, creations and presentations. Standing in front of a show the guy behind us asked his company rather brassy who those people in the queue were and that he did not see any celebrity or important person around. When I turned and looked at him I just thought and who are you? I miss the free coffee stand at the Mercedes Benz Fashion tent but I can buy me a coffee if I need one. Since the beginning of Berlin Fashion week many things changed and got more professional and routined. But the audience changed for worse – not all – but you can feel this complaining mood around you.

Why did you come here if you only complain? Didn’t you come for the fashion?
- Oh sorry I forgot. You will not read this anyway.
